Sunlake High School Senior I Miranda
Senior photos are a big deal now a days and I was beyond excited when I was asked to photograph a Senior girl from Sunlake High School. There is so much I could say about this girl. I will keep it brief though and let you see for yourself how beautiful and talented this young lady is. I first met Miranda back when she was an infant. Just a few weeks old to be clear. Her mother was a sort of mentor to me when I was a teenager growing up in church. I babysat Miranda's two older brothers and on occasion helped her mom with the children's choir. But soon after, Miranda's family relocated to another state and I didn't get to see her again until now that she was about to graduate from high school. Can you imagine the surprise it was for me to see her all grown up? She comes from a musical family so it was of no surprise when I found out that she played the drums for Sunlake High School. Yep. You read that right. She plays the drums for the band at her school.
Miranda's session started with make-up done by Amanda. It's amazing how a little make-up makes you feel a bit glamorous and that all translates in your body language when you're in front of the camera.
I love her smile and that gorgeous curly hair. Thanks to Miranda's sister in law Laura for making those curls look fabulous! By the way, I had the opportunity to photograph Laura's engagement photos not too long ago. Make sure you come back and check out Laura's shoot by clicking the highlighted words "Laura's engagement" over on the left.
On her own time, Miranda loves to curl up with a good book. I guess that just adds to all the knowledge she needs for school.
Now for her passion. Music! Miranda started playing in the band when she was in the 6th grade. At the start of the 11th grade, she joined the drumline at Sunlake High School. It was then that she found her niche in music and a passion that will continue to grow in her college years.
During our initial planning, I told her to feel free to bring anything of meaning to her that we could include in the photos. Little did I know that she would bring her Shako (a term used for the hat worn in the band). I was truly fascinated by how these photos turned out with her outfit, make-up, accessories and the Shako.
Let's not forget drumsticks!
Oh yea and the drum! How on earth does she carry this thing? I will never know but she does it with pure joy.
Lastly, I am so happy to say that Miranda was accepted into both Liberty University in Virginia and Southeastern University in FL. Starting this fall, she will be playing in the drumline at SEU not far from her home. Congratulations Miranda! You've made me and your family proud!
