Dreams, Courage & Sacrifice - Tampa Photographer
From Ecuadorian descent, Ashley’s parents and four older siblings moved to the United States in 1992. In Ecuador her father was a well known dentist and her mother cared for the home and children.
The decision came in 1990, when her mother came to visit her great aunt in Tampa, Florida. She felt it deep in her heart that this was where they were meant to be and raise a family however it meant leaving her family behind in Ecuador.
Ashley’s mother made the courageous sacrifice to stay in Tampa by herself for two years working towards creating a new life in America before reuniting with her husband and four children ages 8,10, 12 and 14 in 1992.
In May of 1996, Ashley came into the world and completed their family here in America.
Ashley was raised to work hard, be kind to others and above all else, believe in herself. She is the first in her family to graduate with a bachelor’s degree.
The Ortega family’s story not only tells us about their courage, dedication and sacrifice but it also tells us about a dream. A dream so big that seemed impossible but with God relocating to the states was in His plan for them and it became a hope realized. It’s difficult to imagine where the little steps we take today will leads us in our tomorrow or how it might trickle down to future generations. For Ashley and her mother we are a witness to what is possible when we say yes to a dream placed in our hearts.
